On March 24 2023, the Institute of Plant Protection invited Researcher Carl Spetz from the Norwegian Institute of Life Economics to conduct academic exchanges with the Institute. Researcher Carl Spetz is mainly engaged in the research and development and application of CRISPR technology, as well as research on plant virus prevention and control technology. He has maintained long-term and stable cooperative relationships with China, the United States, Greece, and other countries.

Researcher Carl Spetz made an academic report entitled "Applications of CRISPR-Cas9 and CRISRP-Cas13 in plant virology", introducing the basic situation of the Norwegian Institute of Life Economics, and elaborating on the application of CRISPR technology in the occurrence of potato virus diseases and cultivar cultivation. After the report, Researcher Carl Spetz held a discussion with personnel from relevant research labs such as fungal diseases. Researcher Kong Lingxiao introduced the overall situation of the Fungal Disease Research Laboratory. Other staffs respectively reported in detail on the pathogenic mechanism and biological control mechanism of Fusarium pseudograminearum. Through exchanges and discussions, the two sides agreed to establish a preliminary cooperation intention in the use of CRISPR technology in the research of pathogenic genes and biocontrol gene functions, and established a preliminary cooperative relationship between the Fungal Disease Research Laboratory and the Disease Research Laboratory of the Norwegian Institute of Economics.
