From January 25th to 28th, the "Sino-EU Conference on Nature-based Solutions for Agricultural Nutrient Management," hosted by HAAFS, organized by the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Environment, was successfully held in Shijiazhuang. The conference was supported by the "Sino-EU International Cooperation on Agricultural Nutrient Management Based on Natural Solutions (ECONUTRI)" project, jointly funded by the government of China and EU. 8 international experts from Italy, Norway, Poland, and other countries, as well as 75 representatives from 19 universities, research institutes, and enterprises including China Agricultural University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Nanjing Agricultural University. Through various forms such as academic discussion, achievements exhibition, and on-site observation, participants jointly discussed the path of green development for modern agriculture, injecting strong international momentum into the high-quality development of agriculture in Hebei.

Vice President ZHANG Qiang from HAAFS stated at the opening ceremony that the landing of this meeting in Hebei has provided an important platform for local researchers to learn European advanced experience, which will effectively promote the solution of industrial challenges such as improving the quality of cultivated land in Hebei, reducing fertilizer use and increasing efficiency, and preventing agricultural non-point source pollution.

Professor Luisella R. Celi, Vice President of the University of Turin in Italy, Professor CHEN Qing from China Agricultural University, who is the Chinese chief of the project, and other Chinese and foreign guests unanimously agreed that agricultural nutrient management based on natural solutions is a common choice to address global climate change and ensure food security. During the conference, 19 experts and scholars from both China and Europe presented high-level academic reports on core topics such as resource utilization of farming waste, agricultural nutrient management and nitrogen and phosphorus emission reduction, biostimulants and synergistic fertilizers, sharing cutting-edge technological achievements in biological waste treatment and nutrient recovery, optimization of phosphorus resource recovery, and reduction of nitrogen and phosphorus non-point source pollution.

The conference not only facilitated the mutual learning and sharing of agricultural technological achievements between China and Europe, but also consolidated the foundation of cooperation between Hebei and European countries. HAAFS will take this as an opportunity to continuously deepen international scientific and technological cooperation, accelerate the cooperation and transformation of advanced theories and technologies, and contribute "Yanzhao wisdom" to the green and low-carbon development of agriculture in Hebei and the safeguarding of national food security.
