On October 31st, 2025, Professor Carl Spetz from the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research visited the Institute of Plant Protection, HAAFS for academic exchange. Vice president ZHANG Qiang attended the activity.

Professor Spetz, under the title of "Application of CRISPR in Agriculture", systematically expounded the latest research progress of gene editing technology in precise resistance breeding such as disease resistance, pest resistance, and stress resistance, and explored its application prospects in the field of plant disease control, providing an important technical reference for the research on green control of crop diseases.

Dr. WANG Yajiao reported the phased research results of the project "Studying the Replication Mechanism of Viral PVA by Using CRISPR Gene Editing Technology" in collaboration with professor Spetz. Meanwhile, to further deepen cooperation, the Institute of Plant Protection has specially appointed professor Spetz as a visiting researcher and held an appointment ceremony.

Vice president ZHANG Qiang expressed that he hoped through this cooperation, Professor Spetz’s advanced scientific research concepts could be introduced to HAAFS, in-depth cooperation between the two sides in the field of crop disease prevention and control could be promoted, and the cultivation of young talents could be strengthened.
This academic exchange activity further strengthened the scientific and technological cooperation between the Institute of Plant Protection, HAAFS and the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research, broadened the international horizons of researchers, and laid a solid foundation for promoting the innovative development of related fields.
