The new forage variety bred by the forage team from the Institute of Dryland Farming makes an appearance at the 12th International Triticale Symposium

From May 31st to June 2nd, 2025, the 12th International Triticale Symposium was held at Gansu Agricultural University. It was hosted by Gansu Agricultural University and supported by the Institute of Dryland Farming of HAAFS and other co-organizers. The conference aimed to realize resource sharing and complementarity of advantages through strengthening international exchanges and cooperation. More than 300 experts and scholars from nearly 30 research institutes and universities in 10 countries, including China, Belgium, Australia, Hungary, Germany, Romania, Canada and New Zealand, attended the conference.



At the academic symposium from May 31st to June 1st, Director LU Guanli from the Institute of Dryland Farming presided over the sub-session of "Genetics and Breeding of Triticale". Dr. LI Yuan from the forage team of the institute gave a presentation entitled "Germplasm Innovation and New Variety Breeding of Low-wax and Awnless Forage Triticale", introducing the latest research progress of the team in the germplasm innovation and new variety breeding of low-wax and awnless forage triticale.



At the field observation meeting on June 2nd, domestic and foreign experts observed the field performance of the new forage triticale variety Jisi No. 5 released by the forage team from the Institute of Dryland Farming of HAAFS. The core members of the team exchanged views with foreign experts on the variety characteristics, production and utilization of Jisi No. 5, which was affirmed by the foreign experts. A preliminary cooperation intention was reached on the breeding, production and utilization technology of forage triticale.
