In mid to late March 2024, the new oil sunflower variety ‘Jikui 3’, which was bred by the genetic breeding team of the Institute of Cotton of HAAFS, showcased at the 2024 China Seed (Nanfan Agricultural Silicon Valley) Conference in the National Modern Agriculture (Seed Industry) Industrial Park in Sanya, Hainan Province. The golden sunflowers showed a beautiful scenery in the modern agricultural industrial park, where thousands achievements of the national seed industry are intergrated.

‘Jikui 3’ not only has the characteristics of early maturity, disease resistance, high quality, and high yield, but also shows the advantages of drought resistance, salt alkali tolerance, and wide adaptability, making it suitable for planting in hilly and coastal saline and alkali lands. In recent years, demonstration and promotion have been carried out in the central and southern regions of Hebei and Zhangcheng region. While providing high-quality edible oil, it has also promoted the development of leisure and sightseeing agriculture and the construction of beautiful rural areas. It has been introduced and planted in tourist attractions in provinces and cities such as Shandong, Tianjin, Liaoning, Anhui, and Hainan.
