From December 5th to 8th, 2023, at the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of the Republic of Egypt(MALR), ZHANG Tielong, the President of the Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, led a delegation of four members, including ZHANG Meishen, the director of International Cooperation Division, WANG Mingqiu, the director of the Institute of Cash Crops, and LI Kejiang, the deputy director of the Institute of Dryland Farming, to conduct a four-day visit to Egypt.

The delegation visited the Egyptian International Center for Agriculture, the Desert Research Center (DRC), and the Agricultural Research Center (ARC) of the MALR, conducted 5 symposiums and visited laboratories of 7 research institutes(centers), covering comprehensive agricultural research fields such as field crops, horticulture, soil and water environment, plant protection, genetic engineering, and agricultural product quality, expanding the breadth and depth of scientific and technological cooperation. Counselor ZHANG Shenghua from The Chinese Embassy in Egypt and Ms. Marwa Fuda, the Director of Asian Affairs at the Egyptian International Center for Agriculture of the MALR, accompanied the entire visit.

The two sides had sufficient exchanges and reached multiple cooperation intentions. They planned to sign a memorandum of cooperation and establish a joint research center between China and Egypt. The delegation successfully completed the mission and the visit opened a new chapter in the agricultural science and technology cooperation between HAAFS and Egypt, and injected new vitality into the construction of the "the Belt and Road".
