Soil salinization is a serious problem affecting agricultural production. Salt stress is one of the main abiotic factors affecting plant metabolism, growth and development. Soybean is sensitive to salt stress during germination. Therefore, screening salt tolerant soybean germplasm and creating high-yield and high-quality salt tolerant varieties are of great significance for the utilization of saline and alkaline lands in main soybean producing areas. The identification index and evaluation method of salt tolerance of soybean at seedling stage have been established. However, there is no fast and convenient method to identify and evaluate in high-throughput the salt-tolerance genes, and there is no study on the mechanism of salt tolerance at seedling stage.
The Cereal and Oil-crop Institute,Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, has established "Shijiazhuang branch of National Soybean Improvement Center" and "Huang Huai Hai Key Laboratory of Soybean Biology, Genetics and Breeding". The institute has strong research programs in soybean germplasm resources, variety breeding, molecular biology, cultivation physiology, ranking the advanced level in field of high-yield and high-quality soybean variety improvement in China.
We are looking for partner from oversea countries to cooperate in the project. The purpose of this project is to establish a simple and efficient screening and evaluation method for salt tolerance of soybean at seedling stage, to develop effective markers for molecular breeding and to create new soybean germplasm with salt tolerance.
