President Zhang Tielong Visits Romania Promoting Agricultural Research Cooperation

For the implementation of the cooperation agreements signed in 2016 with Romania Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences and University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, President Zhang Tielong of HAAFS led the delegation of 6 members, including Director Liu Shuhai of Human Resources Management, Director Lin Yongzeng and Prof. Geng Junyi of Cotton Institute, Prof. Yan Libin of Institute of Vegetables and Medicinal Herbs and Prof. Li Xiaozhi of International Cooperation, visited Romania from December 1-4, 2019.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Romanian hosts. They visited the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, and the National Agricultural Research - Development Institute. During the visit, both sides recalled the history of cooperation between each other, informed the progress and achievements obtained in recent years and exchanged views on the issues of mutual interests. Through in-depth communication and discussion, the following three progresses has been made about the further collaboration: first, decide to make joint efforts on oil sunflower breeding, protected vegetable production and disease resistant grape germplam innovation; second, explore mechanisms to foster the training and exchange of young scientists; third, Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences will facilitate to promote the 2020 International Conference “Agriculture for Life - Life for Agriculture” organizing by the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest.
This visit has got great support from the Science and Technology Affairs of Chinese Embassy to Romania.
